Up until the late 1950s, Airstream offered an optional antenna mounted above the front window. Other brands, like Avion, also used in the 1950s, sometimes mounted next to the front window. This antenna is identical to the original and can be used on any trailer or motorhome when an antenna is desired.

It is mounted with two 1-1/2" fully-adjustable rubber-footed triple-chromed mounting brackets. The brackets raise the mast 1-1/4" from the surface of the trailer.

The stainless steel retractable mast has four sections. It is 25" when closed When opened up to full length it is 88" long. A male threaded coax cable connection on the back of one of the mounting brackets allows for connection of your coax antenna cable to the antenna. A 96" cable is included.

INSTALLATION NOTE: Please keep in mind that this antenna is installed on the outer wall of a trailer and that the inner wall may need to be removed to access the nuts on each bracket.

RUST PREVENTION: The only components of this assembly that are susceptible to rust are the two chrome plated steel dome shaped post caps. The plating on the inside of the caps appears to be insufficient in some environments to prevent rust on the interior. That rust then leaks out onto the stainless mast. To prevent this condition, we recommend painting or lacquering the interior of the post cap and potting it in clear silicone caulk before installation. After installation, we recommend wiping a small amount of clear silicone around the seam where the mast goes through the post.
