This is a customized version of the standard (but now obsolete) Bargman L-100 or L-200 lockset. We are working from our current new inventory but the Bargman company is no longer making the L-100 and L-200 locks.

On 1965-1969 Airstreams, the standard Bargman L-100 or L-200 does not fit because of the large 3-7/8" backset those late 60s Airstreams require. A lock's backset is the horizontal distance between the edge of the door and the center of the lockset.

The extra long backset was necessitated by the use of a bulky cast aluminum frame inside the door starting in 1965. With bulkier framing, the lockset could not be placed as close to the edge of the door as it had been before 1965. To fit the extended backset, a special extra long latch bolt must be fabricated and installed in the lockset.

Due to problems with the fit and quality of the extra long latch bolts currently made by Airstream, we arranged for our own CNC machining and are now making our own latch bolts from high strength 6060 T651 aluminum alloy. The result is a far superior lockset that will operate more smoothly and last longer.

The lockset comes in two styles. Both styles have a knob on the outside. One style has a knob on the interior. The other style has a lever on the interior (lever is reversible for left or right).

NOTE: If you have a 1965 trailer, you might need either this version or the standard non-customized version of the lock. Always measure your backset before ordering.

ALSO NOTE: Please expect minor scratches on the chrome on these locks. We sell a lot of these and every one we receive from the manufacturer has minor scratches.
