Description

This is the most commonly used rotary polisher for polishing Airstreams, Spartans and other aluminum travel trailers. It is rugged and does a superb job when used with our wool pads and coarse and medium grade Nuvite polishes.

When picking an orbital polisher for bare aluminum, it is important that it have the ability to rotate at around 1200 to 1500 RPMs. And that it have a powerful and durable motor that can take the hours of continuous use you will put on it.

Finally, weight is a consideration. The 8.25 pounds of this tool is light enough to hold for extended periods, but heavy enough to provide pressure on horizontal polishing surfaces without having to use your arm muscles to apply additional downward pressure.

The other tool we sell, the Cyclo dual head orbital polisher is completely different. It is also an extremely well built tool, but it has a different mission. The two polishers are not interchangeable. The Cyclo's specialty is its ability to remove the swirl marks left by this polisher. The Cyclo is a gentle tool. It is not nearly as aggressive as the DW849 and therefore the Cyclo is best suited for the final polishing step and not the earlier deoxidation steps. Refer to our polishing instructions for more information.

Keep in mind that the DW849 does NOT come with a velcro backing plate. The velcro backing plate is highly recommended and sold separately.
