Aluminum drip caps available through RV dealers are low quality and the wrong shape for vintage trailers. Our customers asked us to find an alternative that had the sharper radius on the ends like on old trailers. We found a fabricator who could make something much more like the vintage originals.

Unfortunately, our fabricator can make them only from white painted aluminum. If you are working on an Airstream or other unpainted trailer, you'll need to strip the white paint off these caps. It is somewhat time-consuming, but it can be done with our Napier RemovAll stripper or some other strippers and a Scotchbrite pad. The result is a cap that can be polished to a nice shine if so desired. (See MORE PHOTOS for an example.) Of course if your trailer is painted, you can prep and paint right over the stock white color to match your trailer.

We offer our vintage style aluminum drip caps in 20 lengths, starting at $13.01. Lengths are measured as the overall length of the entire cap, including the mounting flange. Generally, you can expect the flange to measure 3/4" on the left and right and 1" above.

We know there were many lengths of caps back in the day and that you may not find your exact size in our selection. Over time, we can add sizes to our inventory if demand warrants. In the meantime, a common way for adjusting sizes at the factory was to piece two caps together by overlapping them to form one, longer cap. This technique can be used and be entirely in keeping with an original appearance.

we have purchased a number of them, and would want you to be aware that the white paint is extremely difficult to remove. No commonly available stripper product will remove this white coating ( not just paint) without a huge amount of effort. We usually have to sand it off, then refinish the metal for polishing, or surface matching. The quality, and fit for Vintage trailers is excellent otherwise.

I was very pleased with the quality of the product. I would like to see more variety of lengths. I recommend that anyone looking to replace their drip caps invest in these.
