Description

This front window stone guard is a high quality Lexan reproduction of those used by Airstream in the 1960s. The originals were the same size and pattern, but were made of Butyrate (derived from cellulose). The Butyrate didn't hold up well at all in the sun and lost its clarity. Our Lexan rock guard is much stronger and much more resistant to sun damage than the original. It is also much stronger than acrylic guards sold by RV dealers.

It is 24" high and 44" wide and attached at the top with a continuous hinge. Comes with support arms, continuous hinge, and bottom latches. All hardware is aluminum or stainless steel.

Available in untinted transparent (most original) or lightly-tinted styles.

I ordered and installed the clear style of this rock guard. Installation was easy. It looks great. I chose to install with stainless screws, but note that you will have to use rivets at the two tie down clasps at the bottom. They will not close if you use screws at this location. Pop rivets only because you will not be able to get your rivet shaver in there if you try to go with Olympics. I also had a placard at the bottom left noting that the system was designed for propane that had to be removed to allow installation of the bottom left clasp. Simple to remove. A+ product. Good job VTS!
