We have a 1962 Airstream Safari Twin. The kit lock post and screws were not long enough for our door. We had to pull out the lock post from the old lock and reinstall in the new lock. It would be helpful to have an instruction sheet. During the install our son-in-law also discovered that the lock needed to be in the lock position to insert. Thank goodness he is an engineer..not sure my husband and I would have figured it all out. It looks like the old lock and is functioning well.

I have a 1964 Airstream Safari; it turns out this is not the correct doorknob replacement, but I'm handy, so I made it fit. It looks great and operates much, much better than the old standard doorknob. I would not recommend it for this trailer, though - it took quite a bit of custom fitting, and the strike doesn't extend far enough in to the jamb from the face of the door.
