Argosy trailers and motorhomes were made by Airstream from 1972 to 1979.  They shared many parts with their shiny siblings. To differentiate from the blue Airstream brand color, Argosy used orange as a signature color.  That played out beautifully in the use of an orange plastic insert along the beltline and rubrail of Argosy trailers.

Argosy used the 1/2" version in the aluminum beltline molding that wrapped around the trailer at chest height.  The 1" wide version was inserted in the aluminum rubrail at wheel level. A wide 1-1/2" version was used on some Argosy motorhomes.

Argosy trailers range in length from 20 to 30 feet long (or 6 to 7.3 meters long in the Canadian Argosy Minuet line), so the length of plastic insert you need will depend on the length of your Argosy. Your best bet is to measure carefully and avoid seams when possible.

Measure the exposed portion of the vinyl insert to determine width. For example, the 1/2" insert has an overall width of just over 5/8". They may bow out slightly when installed so when in doubt you need to go just a touch bigger.

For best results, we recommend installing the moulding while temperatures are between 50 and 70 degrees F.

  • 1/2" Version has an exposed width of .54" and an overall width of .68"
  • 1" Version has an exposed width of 1.01" and an overall width of 1.14"
  • 1-1/2" Version has an exposed width of 1.51" and an overall width of 1.61"

Please note: All plastics on the outside of a trailer are susceptible to UV damage. We highly recommend wiping plastic inserts with 303 Aeorspace Protectant once or twice each year. 303 Protectant contains UV inhibitors.
