POR-15^® is a high-tech, high performance rust-preventive paint designed for application directly on rusted or seasoned metal surfaces. It dries to an incredible rock-hard, non-porous finish that won't chip, crack, or peel, and it prevents rust from recurring by protecting metal from further exposure to moisture.

Use it to coat rusty trailer frames, tongues, bumpers, steps or any other steel surface, like automotive floor pans, farm equipment, marine equipment, or even a heavily corroded battery tray. POR-15^® is sensitive to UV light (sun) and must be topcoated for prolonged exposure to sunlight. Topcoating is not required for areas not exposed to sunlight.

The secret lies in POR-15^® Rust Preventive Coating's curing process. Most paints dry through evaporation, but POR-15^® Rust Preventive Coating dries faster when moisture is present. It has the opposite chemistry of ordinary paints. Now add to that POR-15^® Rust Preventive Coating incredible hardness, toughness, and flexibility and you have a coating that is practically indestructible. POR-15^® Rust Preventive Coating is great for auto restoration, and protecting valuable equipment against rust and corrosion. You'll be amazed at the toughness.

THEORETICAL COVERAGE AREA: 48 square feet per pint, 96 square feet per quart. A minimum of two coats should be applied.

SURFACE PREPARATION

To coat rusted or bare metal surfaces. Remove grease, oil, and other foreign substances using POR-15® water-based cleaner and prep products per the listed instructions. Stir POR-15® Rust Preventive Coating thoroughly, then dispense a quantity of POR-15® Rust Preventive Coating into a separate container to avoid contamination.

APPLICATION

Apply in thin coats. Always apply a minimum of two coats. If necessary, only thin with POR-15® Solvent, up to 5%. POR-15® Rust Preventive Coating may be recoated or topcoated when dry to the touch with a slight “finger drag”, typically 2 to 6 hours. To coat over cured POR-15® Rust Preventive Coating, scuff the surface with 320 grit sandpaper until gloss is dull, and then apply coating.

CLEAN UP

Use POR-15® Solvent for clean-up, which must be done before POR-15® Rust Preventive Coating dries; once dry, POR-15® Rust Preventive Coating cannot be removed by any solvent. Use of gloves and ventilating equipment is strongly recommended. Avoid skin contact. Remove from skin at once to avoid temporary staining. Moisture will shorten the life of unused POR-15® Rust Preventive Coating. Seal can immediately after dispensing.
