1969-74 Airstream Round Taillight Canister

1969-74 Airstream Round Taillight Canister

Product Code: VTS-610

37.99$37.99

This machined aluminum taillight canister replaces the rusty black steel cans found in the taillight assemblies of almost all 1969, 1970, 1971 and 1972 Airstreams and most 1973 and 1974 Airstreams.

The cans are machined from aircraft grade 6061-T651 aluminum billet and then anodized for further corrosion resistance. They will not rust.

  • The 1156 single-filament bulb version is typically used for the outer clear lens position.
  • The 1157 dual-filament bulb version is typically used for the inner red lens position.

Canister measures 4" in diameter and 1 1/8" deep.

What's included:

The canister comes with one socket attached to a bracket, one bulb, and two screws to attach the bulb socket bracket to the canister.  You will need a small Phillips screwdriver to attach the socket bracket to the canister. Just hand tighten the two screws with the two screw heads inside the canister as shown in the photo.

What's not included:

The canister does not come with a lens or lens gasket, but your original lens will fit.  If you need a new lens, it can be purchased here:  4-1/8" round lens (VTS-102)

And don't forget our red reflectors (VTS-332). Old reflectors lose their reflective power as they age.

Installation in your trailer:

See the fifth photo to understand how canisters mount with two rivets through the back. Our reproduction is not pre-drilled on the back so that you can drill it to match your existing holes.  In addition, our canisters do not come drilled for installation of the fiberoptics lens in the back wall of the canister. If you would like to use your original fiberoptics, you will need to drill the can for that, as well.
