This high quality reproduction vintage Airstream fridge vent cover is just like those seen starting in 1964, and is suitable as a replacement for the early 1960s fiberglass version.
Made of thick black ABS plastic like the originals. It must be painted before installation. We recommend a light sanding and then two ore more coats of a satin spray paint from the hardware store like Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch 2X Ultra Cover.
This is another Vintage Trailer Supply exclusive, and the only faithful reproduction available for this era of Airstream.
- 24" long (proper length to replace plastic originals)
- 8.5" wide
- 4.25" high
Installation notes:
- The end that is more sloped goes toward the rear of your trailer.
- You can template the old holes in your roof with a piece of boxboard (more rigid than paper).
- Remember that rivets swell and apply pressure to the ABS plastic when installed. Use sheet metal screws or oversize the holes in the ABS cover slightly so that the swelling rivets do not create unnecessary pressure on the hole. That pressure can lead to cracks in the plastic over time.
- Use 1/16" thick butyl or Trempro Polyurethane Hybrid Sealant under the flange.
- Apply a small amount of Trempro Polyurethane Hybrid Sealant in old holes, around the finished perimeter of your installation, and on top of the heads of each rivet.
