Wool compounding pads must be kept fluffy as you work by spurring away caked polish and matted wool. This spur makes it easy and safe to keep your pads effective. Spur the pad often. Simply flip the polishing tool over with the pad facing up. While it is spinning at a very slow speed, draw the spur from center to outside edge to remove the build up of compound on the pad. Never use a screwdriver, fork or other stationary "tool" to spur a pad. This promotes the untwisting of the tufts and may damage the pad's backing. WARNING: Wear protective eye and face protection while spurring a pad.
