This little aluminum catch slides into the extruded front channel on Hehr Standard windows.  It allows the locking handle that is mounted on the back channel (inside the screen) to hook onto the window and latch it closed.

It slides into the extruded channel and is peened or crimped in place to prevent it from sliding up and down the channel after installation.

It fits perfectly in most channels but it may feel a little loose in some channels that are slightly wider  If that is the issue with your channel, just very gently narrow your channel by squeezing it together (less than a millimeter) with a pair of pliers.
