Threaded shank cobalt drill bits made to fit our Rivet Removal Tool (VTS-497, sold separately).
The tool comes with one bit in each size, but bits are wear items. They dull, and on a big job, one will eventually snap. If you’re drilling out more than a handful of rivets, keep spares on hand so a broken bit doesn’t stop your project. Adding a pack when you order the tool saves you a second shipping charge and a wait later.
The 135° split points start cutting on contact instead of skating across the rivet, which is what you want on a rounded dome head. The 2" length is matched to the tool, so shorter bits won’t work in its place.
Number sizes (#30, #21, #11) are a drill sizing system that fills the gaps between fractional sizes. The higher the number, the smaller the bit. They are the standard for rivet work because each one is a few thousandths of an inch larger than the rivet it matches. You don’t need to memorize the numbers. Just pick the bit that matches your rivet diameter below.
A full skin or interior panel can mean hundreds of 1/8" rivets. If you’re planning large-scale panel removal, we recommend one or more 3-packs of the #30 so you can keep working when a bit dulls or breaks.
