This is a customized version of the standard deadbolt we sell. It has been modified with the insertion of a 3/8" diameter stainless steel bolt in the end of the stock latchbolt. The round stainless bolt extends approximately 1-3/4" beyond the brass-colored standard latchbolt.

The throw on this latchbolt is 1" just like the standard deadbolt we sell. The backset would be approximately 4-1/8", which is the standard 2-3/8" plus the additional 1-3/4" of the stainless bolt.

Because it has been customized you will receive this product in packaging in a pre-opened condition, (since we need to open it to make the special modifications for you). This packaging is then placed in a zip lock baggy to keep all parts together and safe.

The modification was done to accommodate Airstream trailers where deadbolts are often installed in the wall adjacent to the door with the lock moving the latchbolt into the edge of the door to lock. The 3/8" extension allows for placement of the lock further from the jamb. It also allows for drilling a much smaller hole through your door framing than would be required with a standard latchbolt.

We strongly recommend the installation of a deadbolt on trailers because it prevents doors from accidentally opening while in transit. In addition, it dramatically reduces wear and tear on your main entry lockset.

FAIR WARNING: installing this deadbolt is not a quick job. It requires removing the interior wall in the area where you will be installing the lock.

This brushed stainless steel deadbolt has a key on the outside and a thumb turn on the inside. It fits walls (or doors) 1-3/8" to 1-3/4" thick.
