This 55" x 21" x 4-3/4" tank is typically used to hold grey water. If you have a 1969 or newer Airstream, you can install a modern 21 gallon tank (or even 2 tanks for 42 gallons) without major reconfiguration of your chassis frame. In most cases, these tanks slide right between the rungs on your ladder frame and do not hang below the belly pan!

Our tank comes with four (4) polyethylene fittings welded into the body of the tank:

All four of the welded fitting are 1-1/2" female threaded holes that protrude from the tank slightly. Two are installed on the top of the tank as close to their respective corners as possible. These can be used for your inlet and your vent pipes. They allow you to attach a threaded ABS adapter to connect to your 1-1/2" pipes. We sell these ABS adapters here: VTS-892

In addition to the 1-1/2" fittings on the top of the tank, there are two (2) more 1-1/2" female threaded holes protruding from the tank slightly. They are installed on opposite long edges of the tank. They are centered left to right and installed as low as possible. These allow attachment of 1-1/2" pipes to fill your tank, drain your tank, or connect to a secondary gray water tank. 

Membrane Fittings:

When it arrives, you will notice that all the fittings are closed with membranes so the tank is sealed up. The membranes are molded right into the fitting.  You can choose which openings you want to use in your trailer.  To open any threaded fitting, simply drill or cut the membrane out of the center of it.  If you leave them closed, they will never leak.  We do not further customize this tank.

Here's an example of what a pre-installed fitting looks like with the membrane intact.  The membrane is thinner than the tank wall and can be drilled out or cut out with a utility knife.  The photo shows a 1/2" fitting but all sizes of fittings are similar.
