This quality polyethylene fresh water holding tank holds 15 gallons.
This 22" x 17" x 10" tank is typically used to hold fresh water. At approximately 15 gallons, the tank is a great replacement size for many canned ham trailers. It is a good fit under the seat in most 1950s and 1960s Shasta trailers where the old metal 22 x 17 x 10 tank was installed. (See the photos of an original metal Shasta tank.) It is frequently installed under dinette benches or in cabinets, where ample space is available.
Our tank comes with four (3) polyethylene fittings welded into the body of the tank.
One of the welded fitting is a 1-1/2" female threaded hole that protrudes from the tank slightly. It is installed on one side of the tank as close to the top as possible. That fitting is for your gravity fill. It allows you to attach a barbed fitting for your fill hose. We sell barbed fittings for the fill here: VTS-983
In addition to the 1-1/2" fill, there are two (2) smaller 1/2" female threaded holes protruding from the tank slightly. They allow for lines to your pump or a drain valve. They are installed as close as possible to the bottom of the tank.
The three locations allow for a few different tank alignments. When it arrives, you will notice that all the fittings are closed with membranes so the tank is sealed up. The membranes are molded right into the fitting. You can choose which openings you want to use in your trailer. To open any threaded fitting, simply drill or cut the membrane out of the center of it. If you leave them closed, they will never leak. We do not further customize this tank.
Here's an example of what a pre-installed fitting looks like with the membrane intact. The membrane is thinner than the tank wall and can be drilled out or cut out with a utility knife. The photo shows a 1/2" fitting but all sizes of fittings are similar.
